Bjørn Hegardt Opening of the exhibiton and launch of FUKT nr 8/9: Concerts: Nick Yulman, Adam Repucha, 8 p.m.
FUKT IN WARSAW is an exhibition which is a presentation of the magazine. Its 8/9 issue, created during Hegardt’s residency in Warsaw in cooperation with Polish artists and curators served as a pretext for the exhibition. The largest so far double issue of the magazine comprises works of as many as 32 artists. The section FUKT IN FOCUS presents the work of artists invited by Bjørn Hegardt. In the part INVITED TO INVITE the selection was made by twelve artists and curators invited by the editor. Within the installation at the Laboratorium gallery, apart from the newest issue, the previous ones will also be presented together with selected original drawings. The vernissage of the exhibition and the premiere of FUKT #8/9 will be accompanied by the concerts of Nick Yulman and Adam Repucha. Bjørn Hegardt (Norway) is a drawer and author of installations (working in close partnership with Theo Agren). In his works he portrays desolate, surreal spaces combining utopian architecture with objects of daily use. His works have been included in the Vitamin D compilation, a publication that presents a selection of the most interesting contemporary drawers, published in 2005 by Phaidon Press. He lives and works in Berlin. An interview with Bjørn Hegardt was printed in Notes no.59 published by Bęc Zmiana: Nick Yulman (USA), artist and musician from New York, creates sound installations and compositions in the style of experimental pop and American folk. During his concert he will sing songs, play mechanical instruments constructed and programmed by himself and persuade the audience to wear hats. He is currently present at a residency at the artists-in-residence laboratory at CSW. Adam Repucha (Poland), singer/songwriter who sings in Polish but plays the guitar the American way. Neil Young, Marc Bolan and John Fahey are among his inspirations. Modest songs based on harmonies of voice and a lonely acoustic guitar express the longing for the heat of the seas and an everlasting summer; they praise passing away, light effects, the wandering of hungry souls and the influence of the cosmos on the down to earth matter of everyday life.
